Nitrous Oxide and Mammary Carcinoma

چکیده
Sir,—In view of the favourable effect of nitrous oxide upon myeloid leukaemia (Eastwood et al., 1963) and lymphoma colony forming cells (Bruce, Lin and Bruce, 1970), we have examined the effect of nitrous oxide on mammary adenocarcinoma in mice. After subcutaneous inoculation with tumour M8013 (mammary adenocarcinoma), one group of C5jBl1() mice was placed in one cage in a flow of nitrous oxide 80% and oxygen 20% which was passed for 11 of 13 consecutive days. A second identical group spent 11 of 13 consecutive days exposed to nitrous oxide 50% in oxygen, and a third identical group was kept in air (control group). On the 13th day, the mice were weighed, the tumour diameters were measured and the leucocytes were counted (after bleeding to death). No effect of nitrous oxide 80% or 50% was observed on the growth of the tumours or on the leucocyte count in peripheral blood. However, there was an obvious difference in loss of weight in the mice exposed to nitrous oxide, especially to the larger concentration (table I). Subsequently, we determined

P110: Nitrous Oxide and Neuroinflammation
Nitrous oxide was an anaesthetic gas that was used for many years. There were many anaesthetic drugs in operations with many side effects. Nitrous oxide had some side effects too. But it was a safe gas in many times. In hospital personnel who worked in operating rooms exposure to this gas was important. The objective of this study was the introduction of nitrous oxide and neurologic side ...
متن کاملClassification and grading of canine malignant mammary tumors
Histological grading is a good parameter to stratify tumors according to their biological aggressiveness. The Elston and Ellis grading method in humans, invasive ductal breast carcinomas and other invasive tumors are routinely used. The aims of this study were classification of mammary gland tumors and also application of a human grading method in canine mammary carcinoma. The samples included ...
متن کاملComparing Vitamin B12 and Nitrous Oxide Neurotoxicity in Operating Room Staff and other Hospital Staff: A Multicenter Study
Background and purpose: Nitrous oxide (N2O) is an anesthetic widely used in operating rooms. Chronic exposure to N2O causes decrease in mental performance, peripheral neuropathy, and polyneuropathy. The aim of this study was to compare neurological complications caused by N2O exposure between operating room staff and other hospital staff. Materials and methods: In this multicenter cohort study...
متن کاملDFT Study of Nitrous Oxide Adsorption on the Surface of Pt-Decorated Graphene
In the present study we search potential of Pt-decorated graphene (PtG) as a new nanostructure adsorbent for nitrous oxide (N2O) using density functional theory (DFT). After fully relaxation of different possible orientations of N2O-PtG complex, we distinguished two optimized configurations for this system; 1- terminal N-side of gas is oriented towards Pt so that the molec...
متن کاملExperimental studies into the effect of nitrous oxide on tumour cell growth.
The effect of nitrous oxide on the growth of two types of ascites tumour in mice was investigated. The mice in the first two trials were injected with tumour cells, divided into three groups and exposed to one of the following atmospheres: (1) air; (2) 25% nitrous oxide; (3) 40% nitrous oxide. After treatment, the volume of ascites fluid and the concentration of cells were measured. It was foun...
